Website testimonials

Do your testimonials still describe your business today?

A simple review to keep website testimonials relevant, readable and faithful to your customers' words.

Businesses change: new services arrive, others disappear and the way you serve people evolves. An authentic review can remain valuable without answering the questions today's website visitors have.

Reviewing testimonials means checking context, publishing permission and the reading experience. Start with one page and repeat the review when something relevant changes.

Check which experience each testimonial describes

Read the comment alongside its page. A review about a service you no longer offer can confuse visitors even when everything it says is true. Do not update the customer's words to refer to a different service.

Keep dates and context accurate. An older testimonial does not need to disappear because of its age; check whether it still describes something a customer can expect. When it no longer fits, remove it from that selection.

Review permission and visibility

Before keeping or adding feedback on your website, check the relevant publishing permission. A private response does not become public material because it is positive or because you need to fill a grid.

In Sayso, review approval and visibility for widget testimonials. Hiding feedback from your website and keeping it to learn from are different decisions. If you receive a request about publication, review it before reusing the content.

  • The text preserves the original words and meaning.
  • Permission matches your intended use.
  • The name and details shown are appropriate.
  • The visible selection matches your publishing decisions.

Look at the result outside the editor

Open the actual page on desktop and mobile. Check whether the full testimonial is readable, the author's name is distinct and the block takes more space than it needs. For a carousel, check that controls are understandable and people can read at their own pace.

If there is video, test playback and review its written context. The content should make sense before someone presses play. Do not present a rewritten sentence as a quote the customer never said.

Leave a note for the next review

Record which pages you checked, which testimonials changed and why. Arrange another review when services or pages change. A simple list is enough; automation is not required.

If experiences about a service are missing, collect feedback again using consistent criteria. Do not commission a phrase from a customer to fill a gap. A small selection of relevant, authorised testimonials is more honest than messages without context.

Put it into practice
